Introduction to Eastman EMC Laboratory

What is EMC?

       EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) refers to the ability of a device or system to operate normally in its electromagnetic environment without causing unbearable electromagnetic interference to anything in that environment.

       Any electronic device will emit electromagnetic interference through two channels, one is radiation emission, which is electromagnetic interference emitted through space; Another type of electromagnetic interference emitted through cables and conductors is called conducted emission. Corresponding electronic devices also need to have the ability to resist radiation interference and conducted interference.
 

       Therefore, EMC includes two requirements: on the one hand, it refers to the requirement that the electromagnetic interference generated by the equipment in the environment during normal operation cannot exceed a certain limit, which is called electromagnetic interference (EMI);

      

EMC=EMI+EMS

 

       On the other hand, it refers to the device's ability to resist electromagnetic interference to a certain extent in its environment, which is called Electromagnetic Susceptibility (EMS) and generally referred to as electromagnetic anti-interference.
